After the day’s 1st campaign @ Women’s Poly Technic, Kayamkulam, we rushed into the innova Car and drived to our next destination – St.Joseph’s College, Alappuzha. I got call from Jyothi Lakshmi Teacher who was the women-cell-in-charge of that college. ‘’Yes, Ma’am, we are on the way and will reach within 1 hour. Mallika Ma’am was reading the feedback collected from Colleges and from the feedback form she understood that girls have lots of queries and they need someone to whom they can open up their mind. We had a productive talk that we will work out a new projects to help girls. The beauty of Alappuzha attracted our eyes and we felt like stopping the car in-between & enjoying it, but we had no time to spare coz we need to reach another college where students are waiting for Mallika Ma’am. Meanwhile, our driver Mr.Saiju drived fast and we reached the College at 11:15 am and we found the principal, Jyothi Miss, other teachers and students waiting outside to welcome us. We met Rev. Dr. Sr. Janat Augustine K who is the Principal of the college and we went to her room. We were given tea & snacks & while the teachers were interacting with Mallika Ma’am, Prasad & myself went to the auditorium where we found the students, teachers and media waiting for my Mallika Ma’am.
The hall was ready and they had arranged the formal function where the stage was ready. As they were anxiously waiting for the Chief Guest of the programme, here comes Mallika Ma’am with a smiling face & folding her hands greeting “namaste’ to all. Everyone at the hall stood up & clapped their hands to welcome Ma’am and the formal function started with the prayer. The Principal presided the function and Mallika Ma’am lighted the lamp. She spoke a few words and the film ‘Unarthupaattu’ was viewed. She & Jancy Ma’am sat at the back to watch the film & the expressions of the students while watching the film. The film began and I saw that the girls as well as teachers were enjoying the programme. After some time, I distributed the feedback form with the help of 4 students who are the women cell members. Prasad was taking the snaps & video of the programme. After the film, Mallika Ma’am and Jancy Ma’am came in front and they asked the students to speak. One of the students stood up & said ‘Ma’am, first of all, Thank you for coming to our college to meet us and the film is excellent. To point out the first case study in the film, the student was depressed by over expectation of the parents & student was stressed.’ Yes, this really happens in my life too, I wish if my parents also see the film, then they would understand my feeling!!’’ Then, Teacher stood up and said, ‘’we are happy to see Mallika Ma’am and the film is mind-blowing and she referred to the case study ‘Cyber crimes’ in the film. Now-a-days, the mobile phones are a real threat to the girls & women. We should be very alert always!! So, its worth that you included that topic in the film’’
The Hall was quiet big and I was running here & there to transfer the mic. But, I am happy that the students have started raising their voice. Mallika Ma’am had made them speak through the film & her inspiring words.
